April BoxyCharm Unboxing!

Hey guys! So I finally got my hands on my April BoxyCharm “Eye Candy” box! It’s been sitting at home while I’ve been at school, but it was very worth the wait as this is definitely my favorite box after having this subscription for 4 months!

Out of the five full-sized products I received, I have already tried 3 of the brands, and they are some of my favorites, so when I saw the products I was so excited! I’m also very happy about the other two products, as I love trying new brands!

If you aren’t familiar with BoxyCharm, check out my first post, where I go more in-depth about the service, but as a general guideline, the box costs $21 a month, and the box’s value usually surpasses $100! Sign up for BoxyCharm here (you won’t regret it).

Here’s what came in my box:

Tartiest Pro Glow: Liquid Highlighter in Exposed- $29

I was so excited to see Tarte in this box, as this is one of my all time favorite brands. I just tried out this product today an I’m obsessed! I have tried liquid highlighters before, and I love them because they don’t budge, and last all day. This color is the perfect golden highlight for my skin tone!

Colourpop Semi Precious Eyeshadow Palette- $26

If you have read my blog before, you’d probably know by now that Colourpop is one of my favorite brands, so I was so excited to see them featured in this box! I love when BoxyCharm sends palettes, because I love trying new eyeshadow formulas/colors and I have never tried Colourpop’s pressed eyeshadow, only their “Super Shock” ones. After trying it out this morning, I definitely think they killed it with the pigmentation! The only thing I wish is that they included some matte shades in the palette, so I could use them as a transitional shade along with the beautiful shimmer ones.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner- $47dr.jpg

I have tried this brand before, as they have been featured in BoxyCharm in the past. I tried this mask last night and I definitley like it! It made my face very soft and smooth after taking it off, but I’m going to have to try it out a little more before I figure out if I would spend $47 on this… so far I’m thinking that my $15 lush mask works just as well for me!

The Brow Gal Instatint- Tinted Brow Gel- $22.00br.jpg

This is one of the brands included that I have not tried before, and this product intrigued be because it has microfibers within the gel,  to achieve a thicker brow look. So far I really like it! It is definitely a little dark for my hair color, but sometimes I like that look.

Adesse Hi Definition Liquid Lipstick- $24.00set.jpg

I was excited to see this product, as its color is right up my alley. I have so many shade like this one but I love the formula! It’s slightly sticky, but not overboard, just enough to make it stay all day long!

Total box value: $148.00

I definitley think that this box was my favorite, and I love the brands and quality of all the products.

Thanks for reading!

Christine

First Post: About BoxyCharm/ February Box!

Hello everyone! For my first blog post, I figured I would talk about my favorite (and only, haha) monthly makeup subscription box, BoxyCharm! For Christmas this year, my Dad was nice enough to buy me a year subscription to this service, and so far I couldn’t be happier!

About BoxyCharm: Their website (https://www.boxycharm.com/how-it-works) describes the service as follows: : “In each box you will receive 4 to 5 full-size beauty items… ranging from makeup to skincare, beauty tools to color cosmetics and each box has a retail value of $100 and up. Brands range from emerging to established, and you’re guaranteed to find a few new favorites in each box.”

The main reason I love BoxyCharm so much is because of the “bang-for-your-buck” for $21 a month. For example, this month’s box is valued at $133.98!

More about this Month’s Box: Each month there is a theme to the box, this one being “Galaxy Glow.” Another reason I love BoxyCharm so much is that I get products that I would normally not purchase myself, but that help to grow my collection.

The products:

Naked Cosmetics Holographic Highlighter Palette: I love this palette! I usually use more subtle highlighter shades, but this palette includes various colors, and my favorite is the pink, as it gives pink reflection without being too dramatic.

Cover FX Shimmer Veil: I received this in the color “Amethyst.” This product is marketed as something that can be used on the eyes, lips, or face. So far, I have only tried this on my eyes as a cream eye shadow, and unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. I put it on my eyelids and once I blended it with the rest of my eye shadow, the color faded, and there was not any sheen whatsoever. I am still going to be hopeful, and try to use it again in a different way (maybe as a face highlighter).

Vintage Cosmetics Smokey Eye Pencil: I was disappointed to receive this product as I usually do not uses eyeliner in a pencil form, as I prefer liquid eyeliner for my wings. However, I may give it a chance, and switch up my routine.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Cosmic Glitter: I was actually very excited to receive this glitter, even though I won’t be getting a ton of use out of it, as it’s a bright purple color. This goes back to the “products I normally would not purchase myself, ” but that’s what makes it exciting! Now I have this unique glitter that I can try out a different look with.

Crown Pro Trio Brush Set: I LOVEEE this set! This was my favorite thing to receive this month. The brushes are so soft, and are perfect for concealer, powder, and highlighter. They’re all the perfect size for each task, and they’re very dense and great quality.

Final Thoughts: Overall, I liked last month’s box better, as it came with more products that are good for everyday wear. However, I am happy to receive products that I would not have otherwise, and it’s always so much fun for me to try out different brands! While only the second month in, I can definitely say that receiving my box is something I look forward to every month!
