Blog Reflection/ Farewell

Hello Everyone!

So the semester is finally over, and unfortunately so is my blog. I truly have enjoyed this experience and I can say that this was easily the most enjoyable homework I needed to check off my to-do list.

I did find it somewhat challenging however, to keep up with the frequency of posts. I think I overall kept a pretty steady posting schedule (except for that weird 2 week gap in March- it must have been a stressful 2 weeks!), however, I definitely give the people who do this daily, some props. I think it was slightly challenging for me mostly because I work, play a sport, am involved in clubs on campus as well as take 3 other classes.

While the frequency of the posts wasn’t always easy, the content I found extremely enjoyable. Makeup has always been a passion of mine, and I found coming up with topics to be fairly easy, as there are so many different aspects of makeup that can be talked about, and there are always new product launches happening.

I am saying goodbye to makeupwithchristine for now, as I want to soak up as much of my summer as I can, and be as stress free as possible. But who knows, maybe I will post here and there as I won’t have a million other things going on like I did this semester! Just going to take it day by day for now!

I hope everyone has an amazing summer and does everything on their bucket lists!

My Everyday Makeup Routine

Hey guys! I don’t know about you, but I have a go-to makeup look. When I have somewhere to be, but need to get ready semi-quickly, I always have a certain look in mind, so I figured I would share it with you all!

This look tends to always look about the same, although I use a variation of specific products that are just whatever I’m feeling that day! I always use the same type of makeup, however, and am going for the same overall look: a natural, glowy face.

Here is my routine and the go-to products as of lately:

For my face:

I use my typical foundation routine, where I switch between the Fenty Beauty Foundation or the IT Cosmetics CC Cream (I know, I know I keep talking about this but it’s so good!). I also use some of my Colourop Concelaer, and set it all with my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.

Next, I add a little extra to my face with some of my Nars Blush, and my Colourpop Bronzer, and a golden highlight from PUR.

For my eyes:

I have been loving centering my look around the glow, so I use a matte eyeshadow in the crease, lately one from my Tartelette Palette, and then a sparkly shade on my lid: the golden shade from this Colourpop Palette.

When I’m going for this more natural look, I will usually skip eyeliner all together. I just pop some Butter London Mascara on my lashes and I’m good to go!

Essential for a glowly look is my inner corner highlight color, which is Colourpop’s, Supershock Highlighter in Flexitarian.

Lips:

I just recently got the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb from my friend for my birthday, and it’s such a beautiful gloss. It doesn’t leave my lips dried out and has a sort of golden sheen to it, making it the perfect addition to my glowly look!

Here’s a photo of me and my friend (the one who gave me the Fenty Gloss, so thank you Maya), where I’m wearing this look!

Summer Makeup Essentials

Hey guys! Lately, the only thing on my mind has been summer; especially with the end of the semester right around the corner! Today, I want to share with you all some of my favorite makeup products for summer. I’m all about keeping makeup minimal in the summer, so I’ve narrowed down my top 5 essentials!

  1. A Foundation or Tinted Moisturizer with SPF

Your Skin But Better™ CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+ Fair Main Image

My go-to face product for the summertime is something I’ve mentioned on my blog before, the IT Cosmetics CC Cream. I use the shade Fair and it has 50 SPF, so I know my face will be protected from the sun! This is a little on the pricier side, but I think it is absolutely worth it. It leaves a flawless finish, without feeling too heavy on the skin.

2. A Moisturizing Lip Blam with SPF

Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25, Natural Mint & Shea Butter, 0.25 oz.

My favorite lip balm is the Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 in the minty version. It leaves a tingling feeling on your lips and has such a nice scent! Not to mention it protects your lips from the sun.

3.A Waterproof Mascara

For those days you want to put a little bit extra effort into your appearance at the beach/pool but don’t want your makeup to run down your face, waterproof mascara is a must. One of my favorite mascaras is the Voluminous Loreal Lash Paradise. This formula is essentially a dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara which is about double the price. The waterproof version is sure to still be intact after a hot summer day.

4.Warm Bronzer

CA Dreaming light golden brown Pressed Powder Bronzer

I wear bronzer year round, but there is something about wearing it to enhance a natural summer tan that I love. I love wearing a warmer shade to gave my face a some definition. My favorite lately has been the Clourpop Bronzer in CA Dreaming.

5. Highlighter

I am obsessed with highlighter at all times, but in the summer I love it even more. I love having a glow in the summer that just makes you look fresh and healthy. My favorite is from the Anastasia Sun Dip Glow Kit: the second light golden shade.

I hope you all are as excited for summer as I am! Do you have any big plans for the season? Let me know in the comments down below!

Products I Have Repurchased

Hey everyone! Today I wanted to talk about some products that I have repurchased. I think that these types of posts are such a good indicators on the quality and performance of a product, as it shows that someone liked it enough to buy it again rather than try something new! It gives some insight on people’s favorites.

It Cosmetics CC Cream

Your Skin But Better™ CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+

This is hands down my favorite “foundation” product I’ve ever tried. I put foundation in quotes as this is technically considered a CC cream and is supposed to have lighter coverage. While it does feel super light on the skin I feel as though the coverage is above and beyond what a CC cream is expected to do. It makes my face looks flawless without feeling like I have a ton of makeup on. I have tried so many other products trying to find something like this at a cheaper price, but I eventually just ended up repurchasing it because nothing does the job quite like this product.

Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder

I have mentioned this on my blog before and it’s because it’s that good. I have used this powder since the early high school days and it has always been a staple for me. I know that it is a reliable powder that will keep any oil at bay. Like the name suggests, it keeps me matte for a long time and is the perfect powder to set a foundation or concealer with. I have probably purchased 100 of these over the years. I know that is a quality product for a very affordable price. I usually get it at target for a little under $4. *I always buy the shade “Translucent.”*

NYX Matte Liquid Liner

This is another product in which I have been using since high school. I probably can single-handedly keep the NYX company in business with how many of these I have purchased/ will continue to purchase. It is the perfect eyeliner, and for someone who does wings almost on a daily basis, I love to have a thin brush so I can be as precise  and sharp with my liner as possible! I also love the matte finish it leaves, as I’m not someone who likes a glossy eyeliner look. This product makes my liner look clean, and it never smudges.

Thank you guys for reading. I hope you got some insight on products that may be worth your money! These are just a handful of my favorite repurchases. What are some of your staple products you have repurchased? Let me know in the comments below!

The Hype Around Kourt X Kylie Cosmetics

There’s always new products releasing in the beauty world. I was trying to think of things presently happening within the beauty community, and after putting in some thought to it, I realized that all I have been seeing on Instagram and twitter is hype around the new Kourt X Kylie collection. I figured that this is definitely a current event in the beauty community!

I have scrolled through post after post hyping up the collection, where Kourtney Kardashian collaborated with her sister’s well-known, successful makeup brand Kylie Cosmetics. This is not the first time Kylie has teamed up with a sibling, however, having a collection with Kim as well.

The collection features velvet liquid lipsticks ($16 each) as well as 4 eyeshadow palettes ($24 each). I love how she released some smaller palttes, as her usual eyeshadow palettes can run about $50, and at $24, this is a more affordable price for someone who may want to try the formula of her shadows, but not want to commit to such a high price tag. You can additionally purchase a bundle of a liquid lip and a palette together, at a cheaper price.

Kylie’s brand has grown so popular over the years with her collections selling out consistently. This collection with Kourtney dropped yesterday, April 24th, at 6pm and when I checked her site around 9pm, all of the eyeshadow palettes and palette bundles were sold out (besides The Green Palette) with only the single liquid lips remaining. As of currently, 4/25 at 7pm, everything except the lip shade “Rad” is sold out!

The family is aways in the spotlight, and whenever she releases a new collection it seems to be world news! For example, when she announced the birth of her daughter, Stormi, she also shortly after released a “Weather” Collection in honor of her daughter.

While Kylie does receive some criticism for her personal brand, I admire her initiative as a young woman who has already released her own makeup collection  at 20 years old. I love that she has been extremely hard-working and involved in the process of making the actual products, as I feel as though it is typical for celebrities to not have a lot to do with the production, yet just slapping their name on it for branding purposes.

Here are some of Kylie’s posts promoting the impending release.ky.PNGkylieee.PNGkylie.PNG

Kylie posted consistently leading up to the release, constantly reminding her fans and customers to mark the date on their calendars so they can purchase before it sells out. Posts included videos and shots from a promotional photo shoot she did with Kourtney.

Shop the Collection HERE (hopefully she restocks soon)!

Thanks for reading about my current event within the beauty community! Are you going to try any products from the collection? Let me know in the comments!
